Wells Fargo: Team Building
VR Learning & Development
The challenge
To use VR's empathy-building capacity to deliver emotional awareness learning content as part of a team-building curriculum
The VR Video could be viewed in any VR headset
or on a 2D monitor as '360 video'.
PEOPLE CALL VR 'THE EMPATHY MACHINE' BECAUSE IMMERSIVE VIDEO CREATES SUCH A STRONG EMOTIONAL CONNECTION WITH VIEWERS
Wells: Team Building is an exciting experiment in making use of VR videos unique ability to emotionally connect with a viewer. This was one exercise in a larger team building experience.

Well Fargo wanted to use VR to introduce their employees to the idea that strong team dynamics are often hindered by routine obstacles. Learning to spot those obstacles in a virtual setting, empowered staff to work through them when they faced them IRL.

Sensitizing team members to these obstacles resulted in a more enjoyable and productive dynamic in their real life teams. The scenarios were scripted and staged in collaboration with Wells Fargo's innovation team, along with long-time ModernEpic collaborators FutureState, and Intrac.
PIONEERING TECHNOLOGY
ModernEpic shot this project on THE ODYSSEY: a camera array that was only available to limited access partners selected by Google for pioneering 360 content.
This project involved a great deal of technological innovation — our team created custom remote 360 viewfinders so they could direct from a second room; and created new lights that would stay out of frame while the entire room was a live set.

Eighteen different camera feeds were synchronized and stitched together for every shot
What the client said
As soon as you put the headset on, you realize what a game-changing technology you have in your hands. This is what the future looks like.
